Where Am I Going?
By Heejin Sutton
Located in San Francisco, CA

Artist Comments
This piece is made by layering Korean mulberry paper on a wooden panel with homemade flour glue. Then I apply a glue base. Next, I draw my sketch, and trace it on the paper. Then I paint three or four layers of a background color using pigments and glue base. Lastly, I paint the animal subject in fine detail, which takes most of time. The single animal represents loneliness. This piece is on a cradled wood panel with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

About the Artist
Heejin has been been drawing for as long as she can remember. She grew up with a serious illness and spent much of her childhood in the hospital. Drawing served as an outlet for her, bringing her peace and distraction. Heejin says there was no doubt as she grew up that she wanted to be an artist. She studied oriental painting extensively as a college student in South Korea and then went on to study art therapy in graduate school.

The world that I live in is uncertain, unstable, but I have to keep going and find something that can comfort me. This work is talking about the uncomfortable moment, but hopeful future, at the same time. This piece is made by layering Korean mulberry paper on a wooden panel with homemade flour glue. Then I apply a glue base. Next, I draw my sketch, and trace it on the paper. Then I paint three or four layers of a background color using pigments and glue base. 1967 Pop Art, May Wilson, Surrealist Feminist Junk Assemblage Painted Sculpture
By May Wilson
Located in Surfside, FL
May Wilson (1905–1986) was an American artist and figure in the 1960s New York City avant-garde art world. A pioneer of the feminist and mail art movement, she is best known for her Surrealist junk assemblages and her "Ridiculous Portrait" photo collages. Wilson was born in Baltimore, Maryland, into an underprivileged family. Her father died when she was young. She was reared by her Irish Catholic mother, who sewed piecework at home. Wilson left school after the ninth grade to become a stenographer/secretary to help support her family. When she turned 20, she married a young lawyer, William S. Wilson, Jr., and give birth to her first child. She continued to work until the birth of her second child, after which she devoted her energies primarily to mothering and homemaking. In 1942, the couple had prospered enough to move to Towson, Maryland, where she began to take correspondence courses in art and art history from several schools, including the University of Chicago. In 1948, after the marriage of their daughter, the couple moved to a gentleman's farm north of Towson, where she pursued painting and gave private art lessons to neighbors. She exhibited her paintings, scenes of everyday life painted in a flat, purposefully primitive manner in local galleries and restaurants. In 1952 and 1958, she won awards for work submitted to juried exhibitions at the Baltimore Museum of Art. In 1956, her son, the writer Williams S. Wilson, gave to Ray Johnson, the founder of the New York Correspondence School, his mother's address. This began a friendship and artistic collaboration between Johnson and Wilson, which would last the remainder of her life. Wilson became an integral part of Johnson's mail art circle and was initiated into the New York avant-garde through letters and small works that she exchanged with Robert Watts, George Brecht, Ad Reinhardt, Leonard Cohen, Arman, and many others. When her marriage dissolved, she moved to New York City in the spring of 1966, aged 61, taking up residence first in the Chelsea Hotel and then in a studio next door, where she threw legendary soirées and became known as the "Grandma Moses of the Underground". By the time she arrived, Wilson was already working with photomontage collage...

Black White Textured Abstract Resin Wall Sculpture Artwork - The Earth XXVIII
By Victoria Kovalenchikova
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Victoria Kovalenchikova’s artworks are an outlook at the transformation of the world surrounding us; a shout in the cold infinity of cosmos. It is an attempt to understand the impact of people on the planet through the language of art. The contemporary trend in her paintings is characterized by a figurative integration of abstract elements. Creatively mixing media from cement, resin, acrylic and epoxy on stretched canvas, Victoria’s work is simultaneously sculptural and painting. The surface of this 32 inch tall by 48 inch wide artwork is covered with a shiny layer of clear, glass-like resin, which enhances the colors and adds depth. It can be installed as a horizontal as well as vertical artwork. The sculptural, gray and black elements protrude beyond the smoother, parts of the artwork. The sides are finished as a continuation of the front, creating more layers and detailing. It is signed, titled and dated on back by the artist. It does not require framing and is wired and ready to hang. Free delivery within Los Angeles. Affordable US and global shipping options are available. A certificate of authenticity is included. Her series on the World is immediately familiar, provoking us to step closer and have a better look, then after a few moments the nuances of her art appear. Her training is evident in her skill in creating the textures. Her charisma can be felt by her depiction of the ocean and their various shades of colors. Victoria’s work is magnetic and is being consistently collected by art lovers. Victoria Kovalenchikova was born in Belarus in 1978. She lives and works in Amsterdam (Netherlands) since 2008. Israeli Mixed Media Painting, Tumarkin Abstract Surrealist Photo Collage
Located in Surfside, FL
Abstract Surrealist Photo collage with painting. Mixed Media with or about Amos Keinan the Israeli Playwright and journalist. Yigal Tumarkin (also Igael Tumarkin) (born 1933) is an Israeli painter and sculptor. Biography Peter Martin Gregor Heinrich Hellberg (later Yigal Tumarkin) was born in Dresden, Germany. His father, Martin Hellberg, was a German theater actor and director. His mother, Berta Gurevitch and his stepfather, Herzl Tumarkin, immigrated to Mandate Palestine when he was two. Tumarkin served in the Israeli Navy. After completing his military service, he studied sculpture in Ein Hod, a village of artists near Mount Carmel. Art career Igael Tumarkin, 1980 Among Tumarkin's best known works are the Holocaust memorial in Rabin Square, Tel Aviv and his sculptures commemorating fallen soldiers in the Negev. Tumarkin is also a theoretician and stage designer. In the 1950s, Tumarkin worked in East Berlin, Amsterdam, and Paris. Upon his return to Israel in 1961, he became a driving force behind the break from the charismatic monopoly of lyric abstraction there. Tumarkin created assemblages of found objects, generally with violent Expressionist undertones and decidedly unlyrical color. Hebrew. His determination to "be different" influenced his younger Israeli colleagues. The furor generated around Tumarkin's works, such as the old pair of trousers stuck to one of his pictures, intensified the mystique surrounding him.Tumarkin has worked extensively in the medium of printmaking, producing over three hundred prints. He was encouraged by the print studios founded during those years in the USA, where prominent artists such as Jasper Jones...

There are so many things in this world that do not match yet coexist. Hate and love, good and evil, joy and sorrow. Despite this, we constantly pursue perfect peace, love, and happiness. My work places two objects that can not be together in one space, projecting the imbalances and irregularities of this world, and at the same time, depicting harmony, peace and quiet. This piece is made by layering Korean mulberry paper on a wooden panel.

Artist Comments
There are so many things in this world that do not match yet coexist. Hate and love, good and evil, joy and sorrow. Despite this, we constantly pursue perfect peace, love, and happiness. My work places two objects that cannot be together in one space, projecting the imbalances and irregularities of this world, and at the same time, depicting harmony, peace and quiet. This piece was made by layering Korean mulberry paper on a wooden panel and painting with watercolor.
