The sculpture is signed below, inside Tomasz Bielak born in Lublin in 1967. He graduated of The Academy of Fine Arts, Painting and Graphics Design Department in Gdańsk, in 1994. He realized installation art, graphics press, large format murals, sculpture and painting. In all these areas, in addition to artistic workshop, the most important thing is his message of the work, the message contained therein. These are figurative works, of classical or archaic inspiration, reinterpreted using strictly contemporary signs and communicative languages, decontextualized and transformed into decorative elements: bar codes, qr codes, wi-fi icons, @, symbols of well-known advertising campaigns, numbers / formulas, which combine to form the vision of a dystopian archeology of the future which bring the individual closer to goods or objects, traces of mechanical or computer elements, which testify to a reality, ours, which has already happened, already lived. It is like an eye on the archeology of a distant future, or on a contemporary discovery that indicates an end already seen, towards which we can move. The metal structures are supports that enter the composition and the aesthetic vision and communication of the topics covered. Kristen Newell (American, b. 1989) Tempering, 2021 Glazed stoneware Signed and dated on bottom 24 x 12 x 13.5 inches Kristen Newell was born in a small town on the coast of Massachusetts, where from a very early age, she demonstrated a strong propensity for the arts. Important additional inspiration came from her family and from the family of a childhood friend, where Kristen found herself surrounded by the work of Paul Manship, her friend’s grandfather and one of America’s greatest sculptors. With increased focus on her art, along with winning numerous awards throughout high school, Newell eagerly enrolled in the arts program at University of Vermont and augmented her studies with a valuable year at the Cleveland Institute of Art. This is an original, unique ceramic sculpture by Sarah Louise Davey on a black wooden base. The piece measures 44” x 19” x 21”. Artist Statement: "The art of making, for me, is very much a response to the human condition of needing to connect to one another, as well as to what lies just beyond the borders of our realities. I am drawn to the idea that art can have the ability to affect those who look upon it, allowing these portraits to be conduits to a realm within our subconscious. Although my females are hard ceramic sculptures, their hollow, eggshell-like interiors feel like a glove or a mask that can easily be slipped on and off, like the psychic armor of a distant self. An introspective dialogue is started as I make each piece, invoking a surreal understanding of the physical and emotional auras of these strange beauties. Heavy in symbolism, they illustrate the psychological scope of a hybrid creature. Their wide-eyed gazes are meant to portray an emotional duality that is constantly evolving.
