Jose Antonio Herrera Alcazar Art
Spanish, 1960-2018
Jose Antonio Herrera Alcazar was born in 1960 and was largely influenced by the 1970s. The art sphere of the 1970s was epitomized by a longing to evolve and reinforce itself, as a reaction to the many conflicts of the previous decade. One of the most central movement of the 1970s was Conceptualism, which emerged as an offshoot of Minimalism, while the experimental, creative journey of Process art materialized by combining essential features of Conceptualism with further considerations on art itself. The earliest ideas of environmentalism bounced from Land Art, which took art into earth itself, sculpting the land and bringing art to the outdoors. For the first time since the decline of Abstract Expressionism, Expressive figure painting slowly resurfaced and regained its status, predominantly in Germany through the works of critically acclaimed figures Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer and Georg Baselitz. The city of New York persisted as the most prominent artistic hub of the decade, with international artists drifting through the downtown scene, frequenting bars and art galleries, strengthening the idea of New York City as a cosmopolitan and refined cultural capital. Artists such as Jannis Kounnelis, Mario Merz, and Michelangelo Pistoletto attained international success, as they were widely recognized as renowned members of the Italian movement Arte Povera, much-admired in the 1970s.(Biography provided by Galeria Sastre s l)

'Love Garden Party (Picnic #1), ' by Skip Hill, Mixed Media on Vellum, 2019
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
'Love Garden Party (Picnic #1)' is an original mixed-medium work of art composed of high quality acrylic paint, opaque, metallic and neon inks, hand-cut collage, sealed with satin varnish on 36"h x 23.875"w on cold press paper stock. The painting is framed (41.5"h x 29.5”w) with conservation quality, high UV-filtering museum glazing. Signed by the artist. Part of Skip Hill's 'Love Garden Party' series, this work depicts four women gathered around a festive table filled with food and drink with a myriad of disparate objects including masks, Asian porcelain, and flowers.
Skip Hill was born in 1961 in Padre Island, Texas but grew up primarily in Oklahoma City. After attending Oklahoma City University to study Advertising and Marketing, he worked as a graphic designer before relocating in 1987 to Southern California. A two-week trip to Thailand in 1989 turned into a year traveling throughout Southeast Asia while writing for a business magazine based in Bangkok. In 1990 Skip Hill relocated to the Netherlands, immersing himself in the culture and learning the Dutch language. His frequent visits the Van Gogh Museum, the Stedelijk Museum and The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as well as the Boijman Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, sparked Hill’s interest in creating art inspired by aesthetic concerns over the strictly commercial art he produced during his advertising career. It was during this time abroad that he traveled through Germany, Czechoslovakia and Morocco. After returning to Oklahoma in 1993, Skip Hill studied formally at The University of Oklahoma with conceptual artist Hachivi Edgar Heap of Birds, and influential abstract painter George Bogart...

Two Nudes, 2016 by Celso Castro-Daza
One of a kind
Pastel, carbon pencil, ink on archival paper mounted on board
Image size: 40.5 H in. x 55.5 in. W
Mounted on acid-free board: 41 H x 56 in. W
Drawing on paper is his basic work tool, some are sketches of his surviving works, others are sketches of moments he documents.
____________
Undefined by medium, Celso Castro’s works each carry the presence of the artist’s hand through the transparency of their process. Castro’s oeuvre is strongly divided between his photomontage assemblies and watercolor paintings: the prior is marked by the labor-intensive deconstruction of portrait photographs and the latter, by the seemingly frenzied recreation of a past encounter rendered in the drips and scribbles of paint and ink. Both discriminating in what they reveal of the subject, his photomontage and watercolor portraits exude raw sexuality through the combination of Castro’s mark-making and gaze. Celso Castro’s work is a bare-bulb erotic photo foray into the underbelly of Colombia’s drug world. Castro’s labor-intensive, photo-collage works of drug kingpins, smugglers, hitmen, countrymen, street vendors, soldiers, paramilitaries, kidnappers, and pimps pose showing with pride their erect penises...
