Many of his ruins based works were done in contemplation of Pozzatti's trip to Italy on a Guggenheim Fellowship where he saw firsthand the destruction wrought by collapse and time. THese are ravaged lands, worn almost to the state of obliteration by their historic experience. These outlines show no trace of the classical ideal.
