Valerie Graves Art
A painter in oil and pastel of Southwestern landscapes, Valerie Graves lives in Ranchos de Taos, near Taos, New Mexico. She creates mountain scenes depicting the play of special light on mountains and valleys and mesas with sagebrush. She has been especially fascinated with the images and power of Taos Mountain and the Taos Valley, and she paints those subjects throughout the varying seasons. She earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for Fine Art at the Taos Invites Taos Show in 2003. The award was given by the show organizers, the Taos Medical Services Foundation, and other award winners have been R.C. Gorman and Agnes Martin. Graves also won the Best Traditional Painting Award in 2003, an award she has won several times in the past along with two Best In Show Awards.
