Gucci Tiger Embroidered Suede & Fur Jacket, 2015

About the Item

Known for drawing inspiration from Gucci’s heritage collections, creative director Frida Giannini oversaw the opening of the Gucci Museum in 2011, and notably created a line of popular handbags using the house’s iconic “Flora” print. Her 2015 Spring/Summer collection channeled a 70s good girl glam vibe with a versatile lineup that included low-slung jeans, Japanese silks, and glittering crystal-trimmed cocktail dresses. As Vogue put it, Giannini delivered “couture workmanship with casual vibes,” a compelling combination that stayed true to Gucci's coveted aesthetic. As seen as look #10 on that season’s runway, this exotic jacket embodies the best of Gucci. Done in a colorful calf suede in autumnal shades of orange, green, cranberry, lavender, and brown, this marvelous jacket has snakeskin accents throughout and features beautiful Japanese style embroidery of autumn leaves and chrysanthemums. Embroidered tigers emerge from the foliage at the hips, back of the sleeves, and upper back of the jacket, a satisfying nod to both Japanese mythology and the house’s celebrated history of using tiger motifs. Size 38 IT Size estimate: SML Shoulders: 15 inches Sleeves: 23.5 inches Bust: up to 36 inches Waist: 30 inches Length: 20 inches The fitted jacket begins with a simple jewel neckline and long sleeves that reach just above the wrists. The neckline, shoulders, and waist are adorned with cranberry and beige goat hair, giving this jacket a glam rock feel that is further accentuated by the luxurious coyote fur trim at the shoulders. A cranberry calfskin border at the neckline, front placket, and hem ties the jacket together visually, framing the patchwork of color and texture. The jacket closes at the center front placket with metal eye and hook closures, creating a small front slit that emphasizes the slightly flared hem. A sensational addition to the discerning fashion lover’s wardrobe, this jacket is the perfect outerwear choice to complete any fall or winter ensemble and is sure to make an entrance no matter the occasion. This 2015 Gucci jacket is fully lined in beautiful printed silk and closes with discreet hook closures along the center front placket. Originally priced at $10,500, the Gucci boutique tags are still attached. In very good condition, this jacket has a light perfume odor and a tiny mark on one sleeve. High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself. - Follow us on Instagram @BASHAGOLD

  • I Magnin & Co. Blue Silk velvet Evening Cape Coat, 1930s
    By I Magnin and Co
    Located in Boca Raton, FL
From as early as the late 1910s, the trend of Orientalism was all the rage in the Western fashion scene. With various styles, the mid-to-late 1920s saw the rise in the popularity of chinoiserie blue derived from the artistic decorations of Chinese porcelains. This rich color trend graced the designs of haute couture designers such as Lucien Lelong and became widely available to the upper-class masses. From the former San Francisco based department store, I. Magnin, this 1930s evening cape is a vintage treasure that captures its time. Done in a rich blue silk velvet, the cape is multi-tiered coming down to knee level with two heavily flounced tiers that encircle the torso that cover the arms acting as sleeves. The sumptuous layering of the silk velvet pairs with a mock shawl collar that creates a regal aura to this design. This cape is an excellent vintage outerwear...
