Antique Japanese Dai

About the Item

Antique Japanese Dai, a display stand used in the tokonoma, a large section of root burl possibly Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica), a beautiful golden color wood, the top is a cross section with dramatic burl grain radiating from the center as rays from the sun, made from a section of the tree’s root ball. Refashioned as a “Lazy Susan” with ball bearing double ring support.
