Chinese Hand Carved Tigers Eye Stone Libation Cup with Dragon

About the Item

A fine antique/vintage Chinese carved tigers eye stone libation cup supported by a dragon and dating from the early 20th century or possibly earlier. The hard stone cup is carved from a single piece of stone with a carved upper vessel of flattened form with a curved top edge with a pouring lip narrowing down and supported on a well detailed dragon carved in relief. A loop with a hanging ring is carved below the pouring edge. The cup has a silky lustrous appearance with contrasting veining running through the body of the vessel with a flat cut base. The libation cup is not marked. Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market. In excellent condition.
