Chinese Molded Double Gourd Scroll Weight with Figures
About the Item
A good quality Chinese vintage double gourd scroll weight molded with scholars, court ladies and a small boy dating from the 20th century. The weight is formed in a mottled green resin which simulates jade and is beautifully made with five scholar figures, one on horseback; two court ladies and a small boy. The figures are set around the lower body with cloud like designs with the upper body molded with leaf designs above Shou style emblems with a leaf and knot formed finial. The base has a flat mottled green finish and the weight is not marked.
Provenance: acquired in the British Art Market.
In good condition with wear associated to age and use.
