VIntage Chinese Temple Jar with Pastel Toned Famille Vert Decoration

About the Item

Famille Verte style porcelain temple jar. Crafted in China towards the end of the 20th century in the 1970s. This piece is made from white underglazed porcelain and hand-painted in muted pastel tones of green, pink, and blue. It boasts a distinctive shape with eight panelled sides, each swooping upwards into spiraled octagonal shape, graced with a domed lid and finial. Each side panel is decorated with a central blooming pink flower, displaying eight petals, set against a stylized trail of foliage on a jade green backdrop. The number 8, symbolizing prosperity in Chinese culture, adds an auspicious quality to this beautiful piece of porcelain. Measuring 29 cm in height and 17 cm in diameter, this large temple jar is striking and would make a wonderful centerpiece display. It comes in good condition for age and use. And is stamped to its underside with a blue insignia, which has been dated to the 1970s.
