Walker & Hall, English sterling silver punch bowl set with original glass liners, made in Birmingham in 1930, with beautiful curvilinear pierced motifs and adorned with vine motifs on the rims, consisting of a punch bowl measuring 8 1/4'' in diameter by 5 1/8'' in height and 4 cups, measuring 4 3/8'' in diameter by 3 1/2'' in height. Total silver weight is 33 troy ounces and hallmarks are shown. Walker & Hall was an important English silversmith established in Sheffield in 1845 by George Walker. The business was later joined by Henry Hall, and became Walker & Hall in 1853. The factory was at Howard Street in Sheffield, while showrooms were opened in 45 Holborn Viaduct, London. Branches were opened in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast, Hull, Bristol, Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa), Wellington (1911) and Auckland in New Zealand (1914). The factory started as a partnership between the young Samuel Alcock and the older Ralph Stevenson, who provided the factory and capital. Alcock quickly took the factory to great heights, building one of the biggest factories of its time. Alcock jumped on the new Rococo Revival fashion and served a huge new middle class market.
