Monumental Antique Japanese Meiji Period Imari Porcelain Charger Plate 1880

About the Item

A fine & monumetal Japanese Meiji period Porcelain charger/plate, circa 1890. The charger is very finely decorated with underglaze blue, red iron oxide glazes and heightened with gilded decoration. To the center of the charger are concentric circles of floral decoration, surround by a landscape decoration scene of prunus & bamboo, with two stylized fans facing opposite. The rear of the charger is also decorated with six floral panels and three concentric blue circular bands containing 'X & O' decoration. Condition is very good indeed, no damage or restoration noted, the charger is of very large size & displays very well.
