Sculptural Cast Bronze Double Light Wall Sconce in Verdigris Patina
About the Item
Sculptural bronze two-arm wall sconce entitled "Molten Lily" designed by Simone Bodmer-Turner.
The design of the sconce was partly inspired by an exploding seed pod, reminiscent of the moment where all the possibilities of springtime, growth, and abundance are emerging. Soft light emanates from the flower petal-like tips of two sinewy stems stretching upward from a base that subtly references the influence of Art Deco on nautical design in the early 20th century.
Cast in solid bronze and finished in an elegant verdigris patina, the sconce retains the hand-formed surface characteristics from the artist's original full-scale plaster model used in the bronze casting process. Produced in collaboration with master metalworkers at West Supply in Chicago, the fixture is UL-listed and wired for hardwire installation with halogen bulbs. Two editions in verdigris patina are available for immediate placement; forward editions are made to order with a lead time of 12 to 14 weeks.
