Edison 35mm Projecting Kinetoscope, Hand Crank Patented 1897, Built Ca. 1910 OBO
By Thomas A. Edison
Located in Dallas, US
Submitted for your consideration is this 1897 designed & patented, Circa 1910 built, Edison Projecting Kinetoscope.
This circa 1910 Improved Exhibition Model 35mm projection machine represents one of the most classic yet refined (improved) 35mm hand crank cinema projectors and was invented by Thomas Alva Edison and William Dickenson in Orange New Jersey by The Edison Mfg. Company.
The projection mechanism is operating and cranks film. It has a square Powers metal feed film magazine attached correctly on top but does not have a lamp house or a lower take up arm or reel.
This is the perfect display size configuration for tabletop, bookshelf or pedestal exhibition.
The projector body comes in a numbered wood case, most likely red oak, and has a 'tribute' Bausch & Lomb Cinephor projecting lens mounted for display only.
This example is in excellent condition with original mechanism parts and what appears to be an original hand crank. The wood is in excellent condition and shows no rot or damage. All ORIGINAL Edison metal ID face plates are in place.
This is one of the iconic artifacts of the early cinema industry and makes for a gorgeous display piece for home, office , museum or studio. Some of these are in permanent museum collections around the world.
This artifact has recently arrived and while only briefly wiped down with our proprietary wood elixer, is undergoing a cleaning / conservation treatment in our workshop. But, we will NOT restore it, as a way of preserving this wonderful and original antique with all its working patina.
The photos speak for themselves as to the impressive historical and display presence of this very rare artifact.
As with all of our pieces, a signed and sealed “Certificate of Authenticity” is included with your purchase.
~Like artifacts of an ancient civilization –
these rare legends
of early Motion Picture and related
production equipment technology –
have a secure and appreciating
place in history.~

Art Deco Rock-Ola "Loboy" Porcelain Enamel Coin-Op Penny Scale
By Rock-Ola
Located in Norwalk, CT
Beginning in the Late 19th Century, the penny scale offered a means for passersby to quickly check their weight without going to the trouble of seeing a doctor; simultaneously - and perhaps more notably - they provided an irresistible opportunity for businesses to advertise and earn extra revenue. Penny scales quickly became a platform for creativity in advertising and design, as machines competed to attract the attention of customers on the street.
This scale - the "LoBoy" model - was produced by the jukebox manufacturing company Rock-Ola in the 1930s and features a Classic skyscraper-inspired Art Deco Silhouette in black and white porcelain enamel. The mirrored glass display features instructions ("Stand Still - Keep Clear") as well as a reference chart which provides 'healthy' weights for men and women by height. The scale itself has been modified to function without needing to deposit a coin. This piece would make a super unique and functional addition to any retro bathroom!
