Japanese antique wooden wabisabi drawer/1868-1920/MINGEI/Meiji-Taisho

About the Item

I would like to introduce you to a rare Japanese wooden drawer that gives you a wabi-sabi feel. This is a medicine shop drawer built from the Meiji period to the Taisho period (around 1868 to 1920). Chinese medicine and other items were stored in this drawer, separated by type. There are many drawers like this to manage many types. The wood materials used are cedar and paulownia. The metal fittings are mainly made of iron, and rust is cool. A paper advertising a drug from the time was pasted on the back of this thing, and it was probably put there to hide gaps in the trees. Regarding the condition of this drawer, Drawers open and close smoothly. There is a hole in the top of the backboard due to wood loss. There is also a slight loss of Qi in the lower left corner due to insect damage. Also, as you can see in the detailed image, there is a moth-eaten hole in the drawer. This is a common condition for this type of drawer. Due to vibration during transportation, a small amount of fine powder may come out from the holes, but this is an old item, so please understand. The color is dark brown and it has a heavy feel. I think it goes well with antique furniture. It will also blend in with modern spaces. Drawers with this atmosphere are difficult to obtain. It's rare. This is a highly recommended item. Weight: 27.2kg [We offer Japanese antique furniture and tools that are different from the Japanese antique furniture and art that have been appreciated abroad. These tools were used in private homes and farmhouses in the past. They have been passed through a long time and have an attractive taste. The reality is that many of these items are now being discarded along with the demolition of houses. We are on a mission to re-evaluate these fascinating old objects and preserve them for future generations. And we have seen tens of thousands of items so far. We have used that experience to list the most fascinating items here. We can do this because of our long experience. We will rediscover the "beauty" produced in the life and culture of the common people, which is different from the Japanese art and culture that is known and scattered around the world, and present it to the world. ]
