Acclaimed French designer Jean-Marie Massaud is known for his unconventional approach to design. He aims to blend intelligence with feeling, nature with culture, always ensuring that it is the human being who takes pride of place - this chair certainly satisfies all those aims with its light yet incredibly strong structure.
Massaud's work can be found in museums all around the world and he has been listed for a number of prestigious awards.
Born in Toulouse, France in 1966, he graduated from Ecole Nationale Superieur de Creation Industrielle - Les Ateliers, Paris (ENSCI) in 1990.
Among his many awards and distinctions are three selections for the 'Compasso d'Oro' between 1995 and 1998, the 'Grand Prix de la Presse Internationale et de la Critique du Meuble Contemporain' and 'Chair of the Year' (Promosedia dell'Anno), Italy as well as the FORM prize in Germany, all in 1996. Between 2000 and 2007 he has been awarded - amongst other prizes - the 'Best Eco Design (Human Nature)', Tokyo, was the 'Designer of the Year' for Elle Deco, France and won 'Createur de l'Annee' of the 2007 Paris Salon du Meuble.
