Stephen Jacob Art
French, b. 1846
Stephen Jacob was a pupil of Isidore Pils (1815–75), Jean-Baptiste-Ange Tissier (1814–76) and Léon Bonnat (1833–1922) at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His work appeared at the Salon de Paris from 1868, at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français from 1883 and in Brussels in 1910. He obtained an honorable mention in 1889 and a bronze medal in 1900 for contributions to the Exposition Universelle in Paris. He liked to draw genre scènes from the second half of the nineteenth century, which he brought to life with colorful detail.

American artist Daniel Ridgway Knight was born in Pennsylvania and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1872 he lived and worked at Poissy on the River Seine, just to the west of Paris.
Best known for his landscapes and depictions of peasant women in the fields, Knight earned distinction at the Paris Salon of 1882.
