Vintage 1970's Jean Muir Beaded Sequin Navy Jersey Capelet Plunge Dress w/Tags

A gorgeous 1977 Jean Muir designer silk-jersey dress with original deadstock $2895 price tags still attached. The self-taught Muir made her name in the 1960's, creating a reputation for exquisitely tailored, timeless, feminine clothing. Muir is 'designer’s designer’, admired by the likes of Gaultier, Issey Miyake and Giorgio Armani. She continually held the attention and respect of fashion critics, and worked with some of the world’s most established photographers. A 1975 survey reported the two most copied designers in the world to be Jean Muir and Yves Saint Laurent. This breathtaking Jean Muir creation is everything a woman wants. The body is cut long and lean with vertical seaming. Each seam is done with her signature top stitching in a matching navy thread. The sparkling beadwork adds the perfect amount of sparkle. The bodice definitely has a 1930's vibe with the beautiful flutter capelet plunge and leanlong sleeves. The matching sash belt creates the most flattering nipped-waist silhouette. A rare and important piece of wearable fashion history.
