18th Century, Pair of Italian Neoclassical Lacquered and Giltwood Consoles
Located in IT
18th century, pair of Italian neoclassical lacquered and giltwood consoles This pair of consoles was made in the second half of the 18th century in the neoclassical era, in Naples (Italy) The carved and lacquered wooden consoles are composed of two half-moon tops lacquered with fake jasper. The band below the floor is sculpted in the ways of Classic grooved friezes, lacquered with light color and gold. The four legs are also grooved lacquered and golden and end in quadrangular feet. These consoles are very elegant and refined for the simplicity of their line and color. Consoles with two shelves are also quite rare. These allow greater flexibility in their use: in fact, in the lower shelf it is possible to expose, for example, vases with flowers, porcelain, books or other decorative objects in addition to what is placed above or offend the ability to lighten the top floor from too many objects. For their small size and especially for the particular depth of the floors, very narrow, and for the distinctly decorative character, these consoles are easily inserted in any environment. They are in fact perfect in the entrances or in the corridors, in a living room or a study, exposed in pairs or individually. The light color also makes them pleasant next to antique and modern furniture.

Venetian Demilune Console, Hand Carved Solid Mahogany, Restored
Located in Vigonza, Padua
Italian Venetian Liberty console, demilune table, Eugenio Quarti designer attributable in hand carved solid mahogany, restored and wax-polished, circa 1900s. From Hungaria Palace Hotel -Lido di Venezia Measures cm: H 88, W 90, D 42 About Eugenio Quarti Eugenio Quarti, "prince of the cabinetmakers", was born in 1867 in Villa d'Almè, a small village in the province of Bergamo, from a family dedicated to wood crafts. Eugenio QuartiA 14 years old is sent by his father to Paris where he works as an apprentice in a cabinet-making workshop. At the end of the 80's dell'800 comes back to Italy and settles in Milan where he works, for a short period, with Carlo Bugatti. In the same year, he will then open his own workshop in via Donizetti. The first furniture that draws and produces are clearly derived from Bugatti. From 1894, the year in which he took part in the international exhibition in Antwerp and the international workers' exhibition in Milan, in 1898 Eugenio Quarti developed a personal IDEA of ??modernist furniture, thanks also to the spurs of Vittore Grubicy, finally freeing himself from the stylistic heritage bugattiani and finding new forms so as to define a totally personal style. In the same year he took part in the Turin exhibition presenting modernist furniture in predominantly dark wood decorated with "embedding" of metal, ivory, tortoise and mother of pearl...

Antique and Vintage Demi-lune Tables

Antique and vintage demi-lune tables are perfect for small spaces in your home. They’re compact and versatile and have been made in all manner of styles over the years.

Demi-lune tables, which are sometimes referred to as half-moon console tables, appropriately get their name from the French term for “half-moon,” which perfectly describes the crescent shape of these elegant structures. They were especially popular in France during the 1700s, and editions designed in the Louis XVI style — a style that emerged circa 1750 — are striking in their ornate appearance, with floral accents and legs that often reflect references to columns, like fluted or ribbon-twist carvings.

Demi-lune tables are ideal for use in small spaces because they occupy little real estate. They don’t have any front corners and were designed to be positioned up against a wall or tucked behind a sofa. Many versions are supported by slender or tapered legs, ensuring that the piece has a streamlined profile.

A demi-lune table in an entryway or foyer will provide a convenient surface to stack mail or keep necessities such as your house keys while affording guests plenty of room to navigate around it. A demi-lune table is also a great place for home accents and will ensure that a decorative bowl or antique ceramic vase gets the attention it deserves as you welcome friends and family into your space.

Whether you have plenty of room to introduce a sculptural but understated new piece in the living room or are working with a small space where it’s necessary to be efficient in how you arrange your furniture, demi-lune tables are a sophisticated option.

Find a range of antique and vintage demi-lune tables today on 1stDibs.
