Christo and Jeanne-Claude
Wrapped Roman Wall - Photolithograph by Christo - 1974 ca.

1974ca.

About the Item

Wrapped Roman Wall is an original contemporary artwork realized by Christo. Black and white photolithograph. Hand signed on the lower left margin. Edition of 150 specimen. Numbered on the lower right. Includes frame (85 x 3x 65 cm) This artwork reflects one of the most important and famous works of Land Art by Christo. In February and March 1974, for a period of 40 days, a 820-foot long section of the Aurelian Walls was wrapped in polypropylene and rope, covering both sides, the top and the arches of the wall. Forty construction workers completed the temporary work of art in four days. Christo Vladimirov Javachev (Christo) and his wife Jeanne-Claude are famous for making impressive and often controversial art installations. Their works include the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin, the Pont Neuf in Paris, a Roman wall and more recently an installation on a lake in Italy.

But this time the events of the last year made me more aware, opened my eyes wider, and had a different effect on me. The effects of Climate Change have become obvious.
