Patricia Pearce (American, b. 1948) is a California artist who attended San Francisco State and UC Irvine and is the adjunct Professor of Fine Art at the College of San Mateo. Later, she began to work mainly in collagraph and monotype prints creating singular images of kimonos and ribbons in her subtle shifting, subdued pieces are constructed in a three-step process. This exceptional color viscosity etching is an excellent example of Stanley William Hayter’s iconic printmaking. He is the founder of Atelier 17, and as such, one of the most influential printmakers of the 20th century. Viscosity printing is a multi-color printmaking technique that incorporates principles of relief printing and intaglio printing. It was pioneered by Stanley William Hayter. This is an absolutely beautiful print; it is an exceptional composition with rich, saturated colors. The print is titled “Calculus”. It was published in 1971, and is B&M 353 in the catalog raisonne. The print has full margins and is in very good condition, never framed. There is a bit of slight rippling on the upper and lower edges, barely visible. Please see photographs.

"Echolocation Five" is a monotype that Anna Kunz created during her visit to Manneken Press in November 2022. The prints in this series were made using oil based inks and paint sticks and hand-printed on Arches Cover paper.
Anna Kunz continues to draw inspiration from the ocean; its hypnotic, cyclical movement and sense of mystery, which she has referred to as, “the most abstract space in nature.” This group of works is titled after the principle referred to as Echolocation, used by marine mammals as an extension of sight, to steer space and identify objects. In these works the artist has played with the idea of exchanging the animal behavior of using echoing sound as a means to navigate and locate, with vibrational hues as a way to compose, lead the viewer’s eye into unfamiliar relationships, and to materialize the unknown. Focusing on the elements of simple geometric forms and color, she imbues her compositions with energy through a process of intuitive call and response, suggesting a way for the viewer to enter and navigate the compositional spaces. The saturated colors in Kunz’ vocabulary are both opaque and transparent, choreographed in porous fields of the paper, and lead to symphonic compositional structures. While working on the "Echolocation” prints at Manneken press, the studio was filled with the ambient music of Brian Eno which created another kind of sonic inspiration for the echoing forms and colors found in the works.
"Echolocation Five" is a unique monotype, 30" x 27"; a bleed print (the image extends to the edges of the paper). The front, lower right margin carries the artist's initials and date in pencil; the title is on the back. The Manneken Press blindstamp is impressed into the lower left margin. The print is sold unframed. Framing recommendations: float mounted on museum board or floated within an 8-ply window mat, in a quality, contemporary gallery frame.
Anna Kunz lives and works in Chicago. Her work is represented by Alexander Berggruen New York; Mc Cormick Gallery, Chicago; and Galleri Urbane in Dallas. Her upcoming exhibition entitled "The Tide" can be seen at Berggruen San Francisco in February and March 2023.

Hans-Jürgen Kleinhammes ( November 16, 1937 in Augsburg – August 2008 there) was a German painter and graphic artist.
He studied from 1959 to 1961 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, from 1961 to 1965 at the State University of Fine Arts in Hamburg with Thiemann, Mavignier and Wunderlich. In 1966 he went to Paris for a year on a grant (“ Cité Internationale des Arts ”).
From the mid-1960s he developed his visual language, which was reduced to landscape fragments and signet-like abstraction. (“the representation is strongly objectified, but does not lack a surreal-poetic quality...”). He saw Caspar David Friedrich , René Magritte and Giogio de Chirico as his role models . From 1964 he titled his pictures with the term “New Landscape”, which he determined. At the same time, Werner Nöfer and Jens Lausen were working on a similar artistic program. In 1968 he was a co-founder of the CO-OP artists' cooperative Hamburg , which wanted to switch off the art market with several graphic portfolio editions (members included Bruno Bruni , Dizi, Klaus Geldmacher , Dieter Glasmacher , Ullrich Hohenhaus, Tomislav Laux, Ernst Mitzka, Werner Nöfer, Sigmar Polke , Anna Oppermann...
