Victor Vasarely
Rivotril, 1990

1990

About the Item

Created in 1990, this original color serigraph is hand signed by Victor Vasarely (Pécs, 1906 - Paris, 1997) in pencil in the lower right margin. Numbered 270/300, this piece was printed by the Silium Atelier, Paris. To create this piece, Vasarely created a maquette from which 27 screens (27 colors) were cut for the edition. Utilizing his mathematical arrangement of images and colors, this work perfectly embodies the full range and strength of Vasarely's geometric art. Vasarely uses colors of green, blue, pink, and orange to convey a three dimensional environment composed of square grids. Spherical forms appear to pop out towards the viewer, while the grids in the background appear as netting, through which the viewer can only imagine what lies beyond. This piece also maintains an excellent sense of symmetry and compositional balance, for the color schemes within each quarter square match diagonally, relaying an overall sense of harmony and proportion. DOCUMENTED AND ILLUSTRATED IN: 1. Documentation from Circle Fine Art Corporation will be included with the sale of this work. About the Framing: Conservation framed with archival materials and museum quality, this work is set in a modern white frame with a sleek, glossy profile. The simplicity of the moulding accentuates the details in this work without detracting our focus on the image.
