Change The Story 8, Original Signed Monoprint

2020

About the Item

Change The Story 8 11.5" x 19" (HxW) Original Signed Monoprint A combination of print techniques and collage, this unique work by artist Casey Blanchard features a still life of a vase. The two flowers present within the work do not sit within the vase, but rather are strewn about next to the vase, left to wither. All three elements are created from the same printed material, which combines large blotches of blue next to intricately patterned oranges and reds. Signed and dated. Artist Commentary: “Collage is the exploitation of the chance meeting of two distant realities on an unfamiliar plane… and the spark of poetry that leaps across the gap as the two realities converge.” – Max Ernst, 1962

"Renee's Breakfast" depicts a simple image of three eggs on a plate with bacon, a breakfast so familiar to many, and serves as a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the transience of even the most ordinary moments. Just as the morning sun rises and sets, casting shifting shadows and changing the hues of the yolks, so does life move forward, never standing still. The sizzling bacon mirrors life's moments, fleeting and ephemeral, yet leaving behind a savory residue of memories. In this seemingly mundane tableau, we find an allegory for the ceaseless march of time, urging us to savor each bite, each moment, for they are as precious as the breakfast on our plate. John Kato...
