Vintage 69 piece set of Pickard China dinnerware in the Floral Chintz pattern, featuring a scattered printed multicolor floral design and gilded edge. Service for 10. Set includes: Large Oval Platter, Small Oval Platter, Oval Serving Bowl, 12 Dinner Plates, 12 Salad Plates, 10 Soup Bowls, 12 Bread Plates, 10 Saucers, 10 Teacups. "Pickard China was incorporated in Edgerton, Wisconsin, in 1893. Wilder Austin Pickard (1857–1939) started the company in 1894 by offering his customers hand-painted giftware, artware, and eventually dinnerware. He moved the company to Chicago in 1897. The company was originally called Pickard China Studio and it specialized in hand-decorating dessert and tea sets. Pickard assembled a group of men and women china painters, many emigrating from Europe, to create this uniquely American style of hand-painted china. Many of the original artists were from the Art Institute of Chicago. At first all the porcelain was manufactured in Europe. Pickard would import the blank plates and decorate them in their studio. Wilder's son Austin Pickard began to work at the company and made the decision to begin manufacturing the blank plates and dishes themselves. In 1930 the first experimental china was made. Pickard also worked on making its own glazes. In 1937, after the experimentation was complete, a production facility was opened in Antioch, Illinois. Austin's son, Henry A. Pickard, aka Pete Pickard, was the third generation to enter the family business and served as president from 1966 until his retirement in 1994. In 1977, Pickard was selected by the U.S. Department of State to manufacture the official service of china used by American embassies and other diplomatic missions around the world. Pair of beautiful earthenware pitchers, France, circa 1800-1850.

A vintage, 1950's milk glass covered candy dish by Westmoreland, in the Argonaut pattern, having lovely garlands of shells, beading, dolphin feet and a shell top handle. First made by Westmoreland in the 1920s in the United States, milk glass was the most remarkable and prolific product the company manufactured. In fact, they were one of the top producers of fine quality milk glass in the United States, according to the Collector's Encyclopedia of Milk Glass by Betty and Bill Newbound. The pattern for this eclectic lidded milk glass bowl, #1048, was based on the original Dauphins pattern by Portieux Vallerysthal which debuted in 1908. Westmoreland copied the design and made their own mould calling the production a “Faithful Reproduction of a Classic Design". From what I understand, over 20 colors were produced in this pattern beginning in the late 1950s all the way through 1984; milk glass was discontinued in 1963. The pattern consists of raised seashells, beaded lip and a stylized dolphin footed tripod base; an Argonaut shell serves as the lid’s handle. It measures 7” high with the lid on; lid off 3½”; 6” lip diameter; tripod base width 6”. It weighs a hefty 2 lbs. 9 oz.. Color is snowy white milk glass that has some opalescent hues depending on light casting; medium is pressed moulded glass. Overall in excellent condition with minimal wear. Interior lid has the mark Westmoreland used from 1940 to 1980. A beautiful piece that would look fabulous on any vanity or table top as a décor accent or trinket bowl or a perfect gift for a Westmoreland Glass...

This is beautiful porcelain vase designed by Jean Cocteau for Rosenthal. The piece is in overall wonderful condition. The use and implication of irregular shapes throughout the piece is a quintessential aspect of Cocteau's work. The freeform vase accentuates the 2 facial motifs and minimal abstract accents.
