A very nice vintage California studio pottery ceramic vase by Catalina Pottery, circa 1930s. Great look and form on this gorgeous robin egg blue and white vessel. The piece is in very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks and measures 3.5"D x 5.75"H. Hard to find piece of Catalina Pottery! #4359 Catalina Pottery (or Catalina Island Pottery) is the commonly used name for Catalina Clay Products, a division of the Santa Catalina Island Company, which produced brick, tile, tableware and decorative pottery on Santa Catalina Island, California. Catalina Clay Products was founded in 1927 by William Wrigley, Jr. of the Wrigley chewing gum family. He built a tile and brick pottery factory on a beach located near Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The new pottery became Catalina Clay Products, a division of Wrigley's Santa Catalina Island Company. The pottery used local clays from the Island and had two business purposes: to produce clay building products and to provide the much needed year-round employment for Island residents. Gladding, McBean & Co. acquired all of the assets of the company in 1937 and moved all production to its Franciscan dinnerware...

Rare pair of taper candle holders feature classic Mid Century Modern lines with combination of lightly textured ceramic surfaces and high gloss glaze providing additional visual interest to the monochromatic pieces. Both bobeche and the tray are decorated with a simple graphic relief band. Soft, warm hues of the gloss complement the elegant shape of thepieces. The candle holders were designed in 1951 by Mary Grant as a part of Franciscan Wheat Harvest Brown line; the line was in production for a relatively short time from 1951 to 1954. The candle holders are marked on the bottom with "Made in USA"; they are in very good vintage condition. The Gladding, McBean & Company, one of the biggest potteries in Southern California, was founded in 1875 in Lincoln, California. In 1934 the company began the manufacture of dinnerware and art ware under the trade name Franciscan Ware...
