KIESELSTEIN-CORD Canvas Leather Frog & Ladybug Handbag, 1990's
About the Item
Handbag?...Sculpture?...Jewelry? How about all three! Barry Kieselstein-Cord describes himself as an artist and refers to his work as sculpture. This canvas and leather handbag is great evidence to support that statement ... not to mention that it is functional fashion! The neutral cotton canvas body is trimmed in a cognac color leather with a matte gold frog buckle suspending a ladybug charm ... is he helping her out or catching a snack? His sly smile and sideways glance speaks volumes. The snap closure opens to reveal a sueded interior and zippered compartment accented with a charm. Hallmarked with a plate on the interior and at the back of the frog. The bag has a casual style combined with a whimsical look perfect for sportswear and warm weather fashions. CONDITION
Overall the handbag is in good condition though there are signs of use. There is a small spot on the leather near the frog decoration as shown in photograph 13. There is a faint ink spot on the leather at the front lower strap as shown in photograph 12. There is some faint spotting to the canvas at the back of the bag and some overall soiling as shown in photograph 10. The interior is fairly clean except for staining at the base as shown in photograph 7. It reads like a laundry list of issues but the handbag makes a good impression.
MEASUREMENTS
The body of the handbag measures 12" x 7" tall x 4" deep. The double handles measure 19.5" from end to end providing for an 8" drop ... just long enough to nestle under the arm or carry as a top handle.
