Pair of Industrial Egg Chairs in Aluminum and Leather, France 1970's
Located in New York, NY
France, 1970's A sleek pair of modernist armchairs in welded aluminum with cloutage details, cradling a cognac leather interior. A single fluid curve unites the domed back and fin-like arms which segue into winnowing legs before seamlessly transitioning into a convex base. In the spirit of Jean Prouvé’s modular aluminum prototypes for the Maison Tropicale in Brazzaville, these beautifully round armchairs display the innovative rationality that made the project an icon of industrial modernism — but without the colonialist baggage that ultimately destined Prouvé’s African...

DOMINIQUE From a 1929 French exhibition catalog "Here, under one picturesque pseudonym. are two brilliant artists, Andre Domin and Marcel Genevriere. Their style is a definite one, so recognizable in its concept of form as to at once identify the designers with their work wherever it is seen." The French interior design firm, Dominique, was founded in 1922 by Andre Domin (1883-1962) a self-taught artist, and Marcel Genevriere (1885-1967) a trained architect. Pair of Original, Rare French Art Deco Rosewood Cubist Arm/ Club Chairs
By René Joubert and Philippe Petit
Located in New York City, NY
An important and rare pair of original French Art Deco period cubist arm chairs of simple and very elegant design. The warm brown finished rosewood is exceptionally well-figured and trimmed with a thin nickeled bronze decorative banding all around the base and overall. Since these chairs are finished on all three sides, they can be placed freestanding in the middle of a room featuring a beautiful back. Antique hob nails as welting surround the caramel colored upholstered leather. Futuristic, clean and architectural lines grace this pair of side chairs and read like art but are made for everyday use and enjoyment. Attrib to : Decoration Interieure Modernes- Rene Joubert ( 1878-1931) et Philippe Petit ( 1900-1945 ) for DIM The chairs are of medium scale and have a firm but comfortable seat, arm as well as backrest. There are a few almost undiscernible antique repairs on the wood and some small, unnoticeable light scratches/ scuffs on the upholstery. There is a small space between the seat and the back rest. They are in very good condition. Armchairs, bergere chairs, chairs, club chairs, living room sets, office chairs and desk chairs...
