  • Pierre Paulin “Pumpkin” Living Room Set, for Ligne Roset, 1971
    By Pierre Paulin, Ligne Roset
    Located in Lonigo, Veneto
Pierre Paulin “Pumpkin” Living Room Set, for Lignet Roset, metal, plastic, polyurethane foam, France, 1971, set of two. The "Pumpkin" living room set was originally designed in 1971 by Pierre Paulin and commissioned by Jean Coural, head of the Mobilier National, for the private residence of former French president Georges Pompidou at the Elysée Palace. The set, alternatively called the Pumpkin set (look at the shape) or the Alpha set (after the Alpha manufacturing company that made the originals), was in brief production until 1973 but did not really gain a cult following until the early 2000s. The rarity of the originals makes them highly sought after. The "Pumpkin" name is evocative. It recalls the shape of the sofa, which evokes a giant pumpkin that offers its protective and voluptuous shell to his seater thanks to its smooth and cozy curves. Our atelier restored and reupholstered the sofa in wool...
