This is a large, iconic “Dadone” L-Shape Sectional Sofa from the “Maxalto” range of seating from the world renown Italian furniture house of B&B Italia. In a world of temporary pleasures, B&B Italia create beautiful furniture that remains a joy forever. Dressed in the most stunning and tactile, top-grade “Gamma” leather option in a demure, elegant mid-grey hue. Whilst being as robust and hard-wearing as rhino skin, its softness and texture is simply divine to the touch. Supplied with numerous complimenting back cushions. This piece is in superb, immaculately-maintained condition, having seen light, regular use in the past. Its handsome order reflects the TLC and considerate use afforded it at its previous home but, as you would expect when considering the colour and nature of this particular piece, it does show some minor signs of use across the seat cushions and armrests, and does possess some small marks and blemishes to the seat-cushions in particular which, as i am sure you will accept, is largely inevitable when dealing with a buttery-soft leather of this hue. As the images provided will attest, these issues prove to be of modest overall significance and, rather than being mentioned because they detract hugely from the beauty of the piece, are mentioned purely for the purposes of accuracy. Please view the images provided to confirm its fantastic condition and appearance. Whilst clearly far from perfect for the reasons mentioned, it remains as undeniably-handsome and original as any example you could hope to acquire. In its current condition, it would comfortably meet the requirements of all but the most-particular and, for someone looking for a piece of high-design to position at the heart of family life, it is truly heaven sent! This superb piece possesses all the beauty and majesty of the finest contemporary furniture money can buy. Dimensions-wise, when configured as pictured it measures 320cm across the back of the long, right-hand section (as you look at it on the images) and 240cm down the length of the slightly-shorter left-hand Chaise section, stands 60cm high and each section is 100cm deep. Due to the sectional nature of this piece, rest assured that it dismantles easily into its 2 component sections, so is able to be transported, installed and rebuilt without issue. The breathtaking seating position this iconic modern-design creates is enhanced by the use of sumptuously comfortable, generously upholstered feather-filled back and composite seat cushioning, which leaves you powerless to resist its charms. Not only does it possess an aesthetic to die for, but it is so comfortable too!

In 1966, Piero Ambrogio Busnelli cofounded C&B Italia, a modern Italian furniture manufacturer, with Cesare Cassina in northern Milan. From the outset, Busnelli and Cassina set about recruiting the most talented modernists in Italy to conceive of creative furnishings manufactured in modern ways. In the early 1970s, the company split, with Cassina founding his own eponymous firm and Busnelli taking leadership of what became B&B Italia.

For decades, Busnelli cultivated relationships with the world’s best design talent, resulting in furniture pieces that remain iconic today — be they Gaetano Pesce’s outwardly curvaceous Up seating (made for C&B, reintroduced by B&B) or tables from industrial designer Paolo Piva, each more sophisticated than the next in their geometrically complex steel-tube bases. B&B Italia earned four prestigious Compasso d’Oro design awards: in 1979 for Mario Bellini’s Le Bambole, in 1984 for the Sisamo wardrobe system by Studio Kairos, in 1987 for Antonio Citterio’s modular Sity sofa and, in 1989, the first award given to a manufacturing company itself.

Other notable names who designed for B&B Italia over the course of its 54-year history include Patricia Urquiola, Naoto Fukasawa, Zaha Hadid, Ettore Sottsass and Vincent Van Duysen, to name a very few. And while these names bring star power to the B&B brand, in many cases, it was B&B Italia who helped usher in their celebrity, fostering a wave of design talent on the world stage.

The company’s forward-thinking vision manifested in its own headquarters, too: In 1972, B&B Italia tapped architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers to design a steel-framed, postmodern-style home for the brand, whose crisscrossing metal exoskeleton is reminiscent of the pair’s Centre Pompidou in Paris, which was built at roughly the same time. Now, B&B Italia manages a contract division and outdoor section as well as its residential arm, and it also controls production for Maxalto, a brand spun out with furniture designs by Antonio Citterio.
