George II Chest on Chest

About the Item

George II chest on chest, with bold cove cornice above bead molding; the top has three over three graduated drawers, the bottom with three straight graduated drawers. The ornate bail pulls are original. This chest has multiple features worthy of mention- it's scale is outstanding at only 72+ inches tall, the top drawers are very accessible; the top and bottom front edges and cornice are chamfered and terminate with a ''lamb's tongue'' ; the chest rests on well developed original ogee bracket feet ; and the entire piece, aside from the pine drawer bottoms ( held in place with ''rose head'' nails) is solid mahogany.
