Mid Century Bar Cart by Cesare Lacca for Cassina, in Teack whis two Cristal Tops
By Cesare Lacca, Figli di Amadeo Cassina
Located in Vigonza, Padua
Iconic Mid Century Service Cart by Cesare Lacca for Cassina, in Teack , with original Crystal Tops This fantastic piece was designed in Italy during the 1950s for Cassina. This piece is going to add lightness to a living room with its shapes and materials. The wood and crystal glass will astonish with their purity. Born in Naples in 1929, Italian architect-designer Cesare Lacca created modernist furniture and metalwork throughout the 1950s. Though details of his personal life and professional training remain lost to history, there are sufficient surviving primary sources that document his many elegant designs in brass—work for which he is best know and which fetch high prices from collectors. Like many Italian designers in the 20th century, Lacca moved to Milan after World War II to launch his career. Before he was even 21 years old, his work was selected by a group of American curators for inclusion in the landmark exhibition Italy at Work: Her Renaissance in Design Today that toured 12 US museums between 1950 and 1953—the first major exhibition of Italian design outside of Italy. The exhibition showcased the best and brightest of Italian designers who had embraced modernist principles and rejuvenated traditional Italian crafts, like Carlo Mollino , Franco Albini, and Gio Ponti In the exhibition catalogue, curator Meyric R. Roger’s spotlights Lacca's expert achievements in brass, noting “the variety and quality of his creations,” which “place him high among the architect-designers leading the current [Modernist] movement." Rogers adds, "The quality of his work...provide[s] all the decorative effectiveness needed without strain or exaggeration”. Lacca designed a great many tea carts and serving trolleys in his career—which make up a large proportion of what is available on the vintage market today—as well as magazine racks and coffee tables. Lacca’s most iconic tea cart was manufactured by Italian brand Cassina and features sculpted beech, cedar, teak, or walnut with brass details, a glass tabletop, and a removable glass tray. Lacca also designed high-backed lounge chairs, which were regularly featured in Arredoluce advertisements for Angelo Lelli’s lighting...

Aldo Tura Goatskin Cocktail Cabinet, circa 1950 Italy
By Aldo Tura
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This unique statement piece / cocktail cabinet by Italian artist-craftsman Aldo Tura displays his distinct use of goatskin that Tura was well known for. His quality of craftsmanship which can be attributed to the limited series production, sometimes limited to only the prototype and often used unconventional materials including; eggshell, parchment, leather and wood veneering. This fine original 1950s example was retailed by Blanch L. Markley Shoppe in Lima Ohio, which retailer label is present in pull out drawer. Featuring a Trompe-l'œil book-form with mirrored upper interior with glass shelving and interior lighting above a single pull-out drawer with large antique coin styled drawer pull. The exterior door is hand painted with a Renaissance styled scene. Sitting atop a black lacquered X-leg base with brass sabots. This stunning 1950s Italian collectors piece can function as a bar cart, cocktail cabinet or dry bar and is an apt conversation starter, injecting some Italian chic in to any room concept. It would be perfect as part of; a European styled villa, Modern Renaissance apartment, Rococo inspired abode, Italian Modern condo or Eclectic studio. Would also work excellent for a hotel cafe, lobby bar or restaurant or in any commercial project. MEASUREMENTS: H 47.75" x W 23" x D 15" CONDITION: Overall good vintage condition. Italian 1960 Brass and Glass Bar Trolley
Located in Weesp, NL
Stylish, classy and elegant Italian Mid-Century Modern brass and glass bar trolley. The trolley will be shipped overseas in a custom made wooden crate. Cost of transport to the US is crate included. Italy is a world trendsetter, and has produced some of the greatest furniture designers in the world, such as Achille Castiglioni, Gio Ponti, and Ettore Sottsass. Italian interior design in the 1900s was particularly well-known and grew to the heights of class and sophistication. At first, in the early 1900s, Italian furniture designers struggled to create an equal balance between classical elegance and modern creativity, and at first, Italian interior design in the 1910s and 1920s was very similar to that of French Art Deco styles, using exotic materials and creating sumptuous furniture. However, Italian Art Deco reached its pinnacle under Gio Ponti, who made his designs sophisticated, elegant, stylish and refined, but also modern, exotic and creative. In 1926, a new style of furnishing emerged in Italy, known as "Razionalismo", or "Rationalism". The most successful and famous of the Rationalists were the Gruppo 7, led by Luigi Figini, Gino Pollini and Giuseppe Terragni. There styles used tubular steel and was known as being more plain and simple, and almost Fascist in style after c. 1934. After World War II, however, was the period in which Italy had a true avant-garde in interior design. With the fall of Fascism, birth of Republic and the 1946 RIMA exhibition, Italian talents in interior decorating were made evident, and with the Italian economic miracle, Italy saw a growth in Industrial Production and also mass-made furniture. Yet, the 1960s and 1970s saw Italian interior design reach its pinnacle of stylishness, and by that point, with Pop and post-modern interiors, the phrases "Bel Design" and "Linea Italiana" entered the vocabulary of furniture design. Ever since the late 1970s and early 1980s, some equipment began to be logoed by notable Italian fashion houses, such as Prada, Versace, Armani, Gucci and Moschino. Examples of Classic pieces of Italian furniture include Zanussi's rigorous, creative and streamlined washing machines and fridges, the "New Tone...

Cesare Lacca Midcentury Italian Wood Bar Cart with Glass Serving Tray, 1950s
By Cesare Lacca
Located in Roma, IT
Fantastic midcentury oval bar cart in Khaya Anthotheca mahogany with brass finishes and a stunning removable tray. Cesare Lacca probably designed this marvellous piece and was designed in Italy during the 1950s. This wonderful piece comes with a removable mahogany and glass top tray, while the frame is crafted with smooth touch. It has four fantastic brass wheels, two brass handles and a pair of three-bottle holders. The design of this item makes it perfect for a midcentury style dining room or bar. The Bar Cart can be shipped disassembled, to make sure it doesn't get damaged, since the reassembly is very simple.
