Vintage Klismos Style Cut Out Marble and Aluminum End Tables, a Pair
About the Item
A chic pair of vintage white marble topped side tables on aluminum bases. The legs have a Klismos style to them. The tables have an overall square shape, with semi circle cutouts on one corner. Along the sides of the table where the cut outs are, the sides measure 12.75" and the distance between the corner and the top of the semi-circle is 23.25". Each table measures approximately 25.75" by 25.75" by 15.5" high. The Klismos style is most associated with seating and is defined as, "klismos, light, elegant chair developed by the ancient Greeks. Perfected by the 5th century BC and popular throughout the 4th century BC, the klismos had four curving, splayed legs and curved back rails with a narrow concave backrest between them. Often illustrated on Greek pottery, the design was resurrected in the French Directoire, English Regency, and American Empire styles" from the Britannica website.

- Condition:Minor losses. In good vintage condition with age appropriate wear. Please note, the marble tops have wear with worn chips, nicks, scratches and natural staining to the marble. The black painted aluminum bases show paint wear. They are both structurally sound.
