About the Item
ANTIQUE ORIGINAL OIL ON COPPER PANEL PAINTING
Depicting two scantily clad females with loose robes bearing their breasts. They are relaxing back on some very comfortable-looking soft furnishings drinking and conversing with each other and appear to be in good spirits.
The painting is unsigned but is very sensitive and skilfully painted capturing plenty of feeling.
Probably Flemish in origin and dating from the late 17th Century period c. 1680-1700
The painting has suffered some considerable paint loss over the years but the two central characters remain largely intact. In our opinion, the wear adds a decorative quality to the piece in its own right and we feel the piece is extremely romantic because of this but it could be restored depending on taste.
