Kathy Garvey (American, b. 1949) is an artist, sculptor, and quilter from Palm Bay, Florida. Garvey earned her BA in Art from George Washington University, but spent the majority of her professional career as a technical writer and software instructor for Harris, Adobe, AOL, and Verisign. After retiring, she spent time as an Artist in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE), where she was partnered with Everglades National Park to study Liguus Tree Snails and create artwork based on their natural patterning. In 2006, Garvey created an art group that meets weekly to create art together, called “The Pieces of Eight”, so some of her work has “PO8” written on the back.
