About the Item
This large acrylic on canvas painting, 'Chinese Female Nude Pop Art,' is 36" x 35.75" by an Unknown artist. It is a Pop Art work, depicting a female nude figure in the forefront, taking up the center of the composition. The figure, presumably Chinese, is depicted at a 1/2 length, her stomach meets the bottom edge of the work. Both of her arms are lifted towards her face, covering both breasts while one hand lights a cigar in her mouth and the other blocks the wind. Her eyes are shaded from the green military hat she wears, only her mouth and nose are visible and her hair is braided into two braids that lay in front of both shoulders, falling just below her armpits. The green military hat has a red star, representing Communist China, which is also symbolized by the large black star shape, surrounded by a red and green background. The artist portrays the woman to be standing in what appears to be a spotlight, as heavy shadows are cast on her figure. This is especially seen in the military hat as the red star is highlighted and the rest of the hat blends into the black star. There is a gradient of light within the background, creating a vignette around the border with more light focused around the black star shape.
