About the Item
“Eclipse (aka Time Lapse), San Diego, CA” - is a one-of-a-kind location-specific mixed process silver gelatin print (wet cyanotype/cyano-lumen) made with materials I collected from Windansea Beach (and leftovers from my brief class at The Photographer's Eye Collective in Escondido), when I was in town last year - including but not limited to beach sand, palm leaves, and a little bit of the Pacific Ocean. These experimental sun prints were exposed for 60+ HOURS, via a LED panel I've been using as an alternative light source. Printed in April 2024 - from my BRAND NEW "Impermanence" series.
A photogram is made by placing materials directly on top of a photographic surface and exposing it to light. A lumen print is made by bringing that photographic paper out into the sunlight, as is a cyanotype. This print was made by coating expired photographic paper with cyanotype solution and exposing the materials to the UV panel for the bulk of a week, when I was working from home outside of the darkroom.
The print will be signed after it is flattened, this photo was taken as soon as the print was washed and had dried overnight. My messy processes tend to leave an extra signature behind, as you can see is particularly the case with mixed messy processes.
(I do not presently have access to a scanner, apologies for the cell shots, print viewings are available upon request, via Zoom or in-person for New Yorkers.)
