About the Item
Color woodcut/lithograph with chine collé and collage, Edition 30
Woodman's work in prints is an extension of her great interest in materials, processes and mark making. She combines various printmaking techniques and uses collage, pochoir, metal leaf and chine collé. Woodman's prints have echoed, informed and stimulated her work in clay. In her prints Woodman typically poses images of her ceramic pieces in distinctive spaces.
In her new print Polka Dot Skirt, she has placed a figure-like vessel in a colorful interior. It is decorated with stripes and polka dots like Woodman herself who dresses in colorful stripes and patterns.

- "Casa Marquez" original woodcut print signed by Carol SummersBy Carol SummersLocated in Milwaukee, WI"Casa Marquez" is an excellent example of the printmaking of Carol Summers. In the image, Summers has featured a Spanish Renaissance building, replete with classical architecture - ionic pilasters and roman arches over glazed windows that reflect the landscape like a pair of eyes. In the far distance is a red sunset over the Mediterranean sea. This interest in classical subject matter is common of modern artists: both Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico looked to classical themes throughout their careers, abstracting Greek and Roman architecture and narratives to characterize the instability of modernity. Summers certainly does the same here by warping and tilting what should be a stable stone structure. The drama of Summer's representation of the villa is enhanced by his signature printmaking technique, which allows the ink from the woodblock to seep through the paper, blurring the edges of each form. The title of the print refers to the author Gabriel García Márquez, known for such novels as One Hundred Years of Solitude...Category

- "Leisure Pool 1" - Woodcut Print of Swimming Pool Backyard Aerial View in BlueBy Kristen MartincicLocated in Morgan Hill, CA"Leisure Pool 1" is a multilayered woodcut print by Missouri artist Kristen Martincic. This print is part of a series that was inspired by backyard pool shapes and the aerial view that the artist saw as she flew over a Dallas / Fort Worth neighborhood. The pool is printed in several layers of turquoise ink which reveal translucent steps at the entrance of the pool and a richer color as the pool deepens. A glossy white border surrounds the pool providing a contrast to the texture and color of the print. A subtle wood-grain pattern has been transferred from the wood printing block onto a cream-colored gampi paper. The print has several tiny brown flecks which are inclusions from the papermaking process. This print is part of a series of 4 prints (see last photo). To view the rest of Kristen's series of pool prints...Category
