Satsuma Japanese Meiji Miniature Enameled Teapot Kozon Mark
About the Item
An exceptional Japanese Satsuma miniature spool shaped pottery teapot and cover finely hand enameled with Kozon mark and dating from around 1880. This delightful teapot has an inverse conical shaped rounded lower body with a waisted band around the centre and a conical shaped top with a small pouring spout and with a square shaped handle. The body of the teapot is hand decorated with two court scenes surrounded by textile and geometrical design panels heavily embellished with rich gilding. With a key border around the top edge and repeated on the rim of the cover. The teapot has a gilded Koson mark to the base.
In good condition with some very light age rubbing.
