French Bronze of a Seated Boy w/ Lit Lantern, Signed J. Cardona '1878-1923'
About the Item
This very sweet bronze depicting a young boy bundled up for a cold night and seated next to his lantern was cast in France by the listed artist Jose Cardona, who worked mainly just after the turn of the century. Artist signed and also bearing a French foundry seal. The lantern is electrified has has the original mica panels. Behind the boy is a basket, which we believe was for holding cigars or other smoking paraphernalia.
All mounted on a polished red rouge marble base with a nice ogee edge.
We suggest you take a close look at the young boy as he is lovingly sculpted with great expression and detail.
Quite a lot for one bronze.
