Iridescent Art Nouveau Glass Vase Attributed To Fritz Heckert, Bohemia ca. 1905

About the Item

Breathtaking, large iridescent Bohemian glass vase from the Art Nouveau period around 1905. The absolute extraordinary, bulby shaped glass vase, attributed to Fritz Heckert, impresses with its one of a kind green, blue, gold and silver shimmering multi-colored surface. Depending on the incidence of light, it beautifully changes the colors across the spectrum of a rainbow. This amazing looking so-called "iridescent" glass got its look from an unique technique by adding metallic compounds to the glass or by spraying the surface with stannous chloride or lead chloride and reheating it in a reducing atmosphere. The world renowed company of Loetz Witwe created one of the most important pieces when it comes to this special glass art but also other bohemian glass manufactories like for example Kralik made stunning items (don´t forget to also check out our very rare Loetz artworks). An true eyecatcher and rare piece of early 20th century bohemain glass art.
