Sterling Silver & Crystal Bowl

About the Item

Based in Corning, NY, T.G. Hawkes & Co. (c.1880-1959) was established by Thomas Gibbons Hawkes. Born in Ireland, Hawkes immigrated to Brooklyn in 1862, then moved to Corning, opening his own cut glass firm in 1880. His firm, T.G. Hawkes & Co., soon became famous for quality wares. Hawkes' glassware was used in the White House from 1885 until 1938. Hawkes pieces can be found in museums world-wide. This bowl has a wide (2.5”) reticulated sterling silver border going all around. The crystal bowl has a starburst on the bottom with a cut glass floral motif. There are six daisies with their stems and leaves flowing from the bottom up. This piece is so beautiful you may not want to use it but rather have it out on display!
