19th Century Country French Buffet ~ Argentier
About the Item
19th Century Country French Buffet ~ Argentier combines timeless provincial style with the convenience of drawers fully lined and formed to store all your silverware! Hand-crafted and sculpted from dense, old-growth quarter-sawn oak, with a luxurious finish that approaches that of walnut in appearance. The rectangular solid plank top with beveled edge is straightforward, and presides over three drawers and three cabinets that are lavished with carved molding detail executed in exquisite scroll form, and accentuated with foliate motifs that continue on the elegantly contoured apron below which is flanked by boldly scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes and escargot. Separating the drawers and doors are pilasters of reeding and fluting, with carved cornerposts completing the look. The back side shows the pegged mortise & tenon joinery with chamfered panels, while the drawers display the hand-cut dovetailing, all hallmarks of expert traditional craftsmanship.
