"R.ed" stool by Andrea Macruz, Brazilian Contemporary Design
About the Item
Designed by Andrea Macruz, contemporary Brazilian design, painted steel. Brazil, 2016.
R.ed is a stool inspired in vortices. A vortex is a rotating vacuum in which the currents present a circular or spiral pattern. It can be observed in different phenomena as smoke rings, tornados, hurricanes, whirlpools, etc.
The piece can also be used as a table.
The drawing process of this project was digital /parametric, but its fabrication was completely manual due to which some variations in measurements and shape may occur. It's a combination of handicraft and technology.
Andrea Macruz is a designer in "Nolii," that focuses on the study of Nature and advanced computational systems. New technologies allow the reproduction of complex forms and patterns that would be difficult without the computer.

While wood is used as a seat, a metal plate, thick and curved, raises the first material from the ground in a light way and with minimal contact, both with the floor and with the wood. The structure is made of stainless steel and Cumaru Wood. Definitely a one of a kind and unique piece. Graduated at FAU / USP in 2009, with a period of studies at the Polytechnic of Milan, Rodrigo Ohtake is always in search of his own architectural style.
