Jeremiah Brent Design

Evolving Tradition

Want to truly understand a designer’s aesthetic? Look at their own home. With Jeremiah Brent, you get insight into not only his approach but also that of his husband, Nate Berkus. Parents of two young children, they have crafted their Manhattan apartment into a true family home, with “each element contributing to either the warmth or the timeless modernity of the space,” says Brent. The result, he adds, is “a comforting yet inspiring environment that can evolve just as we do.” Daughter Poppy chose the Kravet wallpaper for her enchanting bedroom, but Dad made the space a knockout by floating the vintage bed and screen in the middle of the space. While the layout and furnishings may change as she grows up, Brent expects the stunning Apparatus pendants and floating stone desk to remain. Another keeper? What Brent refers to as the “perfectly patinated” 18th-century buffet à deux corps, sourced on 1stDibs and equipped with a mini-fridge. Clearly, he’s already anticipating the fancies of a tween!
