Young Huh Interior Design

Traditional with Contemporary Flair

Young Huh originally trained to be a lawyer, so she has great respect for precedents, be they legal or decorative. In fact, she specializes in reinterpreting traditional decorative schemes to suit contemporary lives. This elegant retro dining room in Manhattan is a case in point. There is a breezy California glam to its apricot tones, and yet it exudes Park Avenue polish. A dazzling vintage Murano glass chandelier from Adesso Imports, a 1stDibs dealer, sets the scene, with a gorgeous hand-painted silk Fromental wallpaper echoing its shimmer. Handcraft is everywhere, from the custom dining table and chairs to the buffet, with its hammered-bronze doors. Huh found both the contemporary cast-bronze candleholders by Paula Swinnen and the Maison Charles 1970s table lamp at Bernd Goeckler, another 1stDibs dealer. “We strive for harmony and dynamism by mixing periods and styles, pattern and color,” the designer explains. “This room exemplifies our approach.”
