Jazz-Age Sophistication Partnered with Disco-Era Polish

Imagine a Parisian salon sans moldings, parquet floors or fireplace. C’est impossible? Not for Fabrizio Casiraghi, who added metal columns, an enormous palm tree and “a mix of Art Deco and nineteen seventies to create a space where,” he says, “you could be in Manhattan or in Paris, and it would equally make sense.” The Italian-born, Paris-based designer, who has brought his cosmopolitan brand of history-infused modernism to KENZO stores and Mediterranean boutique hotels, anchored this handsome room with a custom sofa and coffee table (behind the counter) from his studio collection, complementing them with a Chinese rug found on 1stDibs, a Viennese Secession chandelier by Woka and a 1970s floor lamp, also from 1stDibs. “I am always searching for diverse objects, ages and materials, while consciously avoiding uniformity,” Casiraghi says. “The Art Deco armchairs we found on 1stDibs are fantastic. The armrests are spacious enough to hold a drink or a laptop. Or even better, both at the same time.”
