Luxe in London

Living room

“The primary inspiration for this room is Art Deco style, to which we added a contemporary twist,” says Charu Gandhi, whose London-based firm, Elicyon, is known for what Gandhi calls its “artful layering of pieces, capturing historical context and modern luxury.” For an apartment in 60 Curzon, the Thierry Despont–designed residential building in London’s tony Mayfair district, Gandhi aligned her decor with the interior’s sophisticated architectural bones. The formal living room received an appropriately elegant treatment, with twin Greenapple curved sofas, a vintage Swedish mahogany armchair and a gold-leaf, iron and glass coffee table from Lorfords. “This room surprises with its seamless blend of opulence and comfort,” Gandhi says. “The mix of antiques, custom furniture and contemporary details ensures that it feels unique, personal and effortlessly luxurious.” As for objets d’art, Gandhi paired an antique urn with a Lorfords-sourced sculpture by Greg Payce, whose integration of a human profile into the silhouette is just one of many surprising touches befitting such a dynamic new arrival on the London scene.
