Romanek Design Studio
Eclectic Company

“My client wanted an artsy, cool, easy room with lots of details and unique pieces,” says designer Brigette Romanek, describing her mandate for the living area of a modern house in Beverly Hills that boasts a floor-to-ceiling window wall looking out on a cascading terraced hillside. “This room has old, new and middle-aged pieces that are having a conversation and enjoying each other,” continues Romanek, who launched Romanek Design Studio in Los Angeles in 2018. One lively correspondence is between an antique needlepoint chair and a Julian Mayor mirrored side table, both from 1stDibs. Romanek calls them “an unusual pairing — both detailed and wildly different, but somehow they belong together.” Completing the colloquy is a William Brickel figurative painting above the fireplace and an Illum Wikkelsø sofa, also found on 1stDibs. “I love the Illum sofa — his lines are prominent and articulated and such a signature,” says Romanek. Summing up the space as “livable, luxe, eclectic and joyous,” she declares her abiding preference for design diversity: “Eclecticism every time. It’s ageless.”
