Unusual eleven-arm depiction This is a scarce Japanese temple find, a gold gilt and lacquered wooden ten armed Kanon, Guan yin and Bodhisattva standing tall and with multiple arms and hands in assisting sentient beings around the world. These among others, symbolically signify compassion and healing powers. It is signed front and back in red lacquer with posthumous Buddhist names- a feature rarely found today. Please note this is priced attractively because it is missing one arm and has a missing piece on back side Kannon, or Kuanyin, is the bodhisattva of compassion—known in male form as Avalokitehvara or Chenrezig.
