Chinese Antique Six-Panel Folding Screen with Stained Glass Geometric Motifs
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese antique six-panel folding screen from the early 20th century, with green, blue and yellow stained glass, geometric motifs and wooden panels. Created in China during the first half of the 20th century, this large folding screen features six panels each adorned with a careful arrangement of opaque octagonal motifs surrounded by colorful stained glass with scrolling or textured motifs. The lower section is made of delicately raised panels surrounded by recessed accents. Folding screens likely originate back to the Han Dynasty, circa 200 BC as evidence in tombs shows. The Chinese considered screens as objects of contemplation and a source of spiritual and creative inspiration. The screens were used to protect from drafts, to provide a sense of privacy or to simply partition a room. With its nice proportions and complimenting colors, this Chinese antique stained glass folding screen...

Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th Century Official's Wife Painting on Linen Canvas
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period framed painting from the 19th century of an official's wife with bird-adorned buzi, painted on a linen canvas. Created in the North-Eastern province of Shanxi during the Qing dynasty, this 19th century painting showcases a frontal depiction of an official's wife recognizable thanks to the bird-themed rank badge sitting on an elegant armchair with scrolling arms and carved apron. Wearing a red robe and topped with an ornate headdress, the figure is highlighted with gold foil accents and stands out beautifully on a linen canvas. The print size is 17.5"W x 41.5"H. These paintings traditionally come from Shanxi province which was home to many of the wealthy merchant families associated with the imperial court during the Qing dynasty. Qing Dynasty Chinese Painting of a Royalty Related Couple with Dragon Motifs
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese late Qing Dynasty period framed painting from the early 20th century of a royalty related couple with dragon motifs painted on a linen canvas. Created in China during the late Qing Dynasty in the early years of the 20th century, this custom framed painting depicts a couple wearing either a red (a symbol of luck in China) or green robe. The depiction of dragons relates them to the Imperial family, but having four claws and not five as codified, the couple is likely part of the royal family, not the Imperial couple themselves. Accented with typical motifs such as bats, flaming pearls and rain-filled clouds, the robes are filled with symbols. Wearing ornate headdresses, the couple is sitting on elegant chairs. Set inside custom made frames, the paintings show great signs of age. While the entire piece measures 40.5"W x 1"D x 53"H, the painting itself is 36.5"W x 49". With its vivid colors and interesting subject, this Chinese Qing Dynasty painting...

Chinese Lattice Window Panel, circa 1900
Located in Chicago, IL
This early 20th century lattice window panel likely originated in a northern Chinese home with neutral and balanced interiors. The geometric lattice pattern is linear and open, and was designed to allow light and air into a room while maintaining privacy. Assembled by carefully joining long strips of carved wood, this lattice window has an even, squared pattern that reveals a large diamond formation. Crafted of pine wood, we love this vintage lattice...
